Caregivers have cast their votes…
For the third year in a row, caregivers have recognized Hospice of Santa Cruz County for excellence in hospice care with the prestigious Hospice Honors award. We are proud to have the highest quality scores of any other hospice serving Santa Cruz County and Northern Monterey County.
This recognition feels extra important this year as our clinical teams are called to discover new ways of being, connecting, and delivering services. It takes creativity to ensure our patients have access to the best quality hospice and palliative care as well as grief support.
We scored higher than the average of all hospices in California and nationally in the HEALTHCAREfirst survey in 22 of 24 quality indicators.
Feedback from caregivers*:
* Award criteria based on Hospice CAHPS survey results, October 2019 through September 2020.
At the end of the day, it’s about more than scores.
While we welcome the Hospice Honors 2021 recognition, it is the stories we hear from family members and caregivers that inspire and remind us why we do this important work.
We are humbled by these survey quotes from family members of our patients:
“The entire process was excellent, especially the guidance re: navigating the system and advising us regarding resources available and how to get them.”
“Everyone was wonderful. The hospice nurses treated my brother gently with such compassion, care, respect and dignity.”
“You provided everything that we needed before and after his death: kind and loving support, knowledge to help me understand the life/death process, and peace to my heart that we were doing things to the best of our ability.”
