We’re so excited to start preparing for Camp Erin together!
This year, volunteer training will be held virtually. The training will be recorded and shared afterward, but we strongly encourage attending live if you’re able.
Joining live allows you to ask questions, connect with fellow volunteers, and feel more confident heading into camp.
We’ll include two short breaks to keep things manageable and engaging.
Please select the day/time that works best for you below. The option with the most responses will become our final training time.
Please submit your availability by April 1st so we can finalize the training date.
Live Scan Fingerprinting (Required by April 10th)
All volunteers must complete Live Scan fingerprinting as part of our safety requirements. This is separate from the background check.
Please complete this by April 10th.
Bring a printed copy of the Request for Live Scan Service form (VV DOJ Form) and a valid photo ID.
We recommend using a Certifix Live Scan location that can bill Hospice of Santa Cruz County directly using our account (CertifixLiveScan).
If you are local, this location can process your Live Scan at no cost:
Santa Cruz Live Scan, Inc.
841 Cedar Street, Suite 150
Santa Cruz, CA 95060
831.621.5041
Hours: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM weekdays
If you are not local, please choose a location that accepts Certifix billing. A list of acceptable IDs is attached for reference.
If you’ve already been notified that you do not need to complete Live Scan, you may skip this step.
Sterling Background Check (Required)
All volunteers must also complete a background check through Sterling First Advantage.
You will receive an email directly from Sterling with a secure link to begin your background check.
Steps:
- Open the email from Sterling First Advantage
- Click the secure link provided
- Complete all requested information as soon as possible
- Submit your form to finalize the process
If you do not see the email, please check your spam/junk folder.
If you are unable to locate it or run into any issues, please reach out and we’ll resend it or help troubleshoot.
If you’ve already been notified that you do not need to complete the Sterling background check, you may skip this step.

Join us for our Camp Erin Pre-Camp Event!
We’re so excited to invite you to our Camp Erin Pre-Camp Event!
Come spend the afternoon with us at Anna Jean Cummings Park on Sunday, May 3rd from 12-3 PM.
This is one of the most special parts of the entire camp experience. It’s an opportunity to connect with campers and their families before camp begins, helping ease nerves and start building those meaningful connections right away. Even something as simple as a hello, a shared game, or a smile can make a huge difference for a child walking into camp weekend.
What to expect:
A relaxed, fun afternoon with food, games, activities, and space to connect with campers, families, and fellow volunteers.
Why it matters:
Camp can feel like a big step for many of our kids. Seeing a familiar, friendly face when they arrive helps them feel safe, supported, and excited for what’s ahead. Your presence truly sets the tone.
Important note:
To help keep the space intentional, we ask that volunteers do not bring additional guests.
