Camp Erin Volunteers
Camp Erin relies on the commitment of well-trained volunteers to join the Grief Support staff and bereavement specialists in presenting a safe, fun, and supportive camp experience.
Local volunteer positions include:
Buddies are responsible for supervising campers throughout the entire camp weekend. A minimum of 2 buddies are assigned to each cabin (each cabin accommodates 5-7 campers). This role requires attending the full camp weekend, including all activities, eating meals, and sleeping in the same cabin with campers. Buddies promote a positive, fun and energetic atmosphere. This is a physically demanding volunteer position, and candidates must be committed to the entire weekend. Ideally, CBs have good physical fitness, an engaging personality and comfort/skill working with children/teens.
Day Support volunteers assist with camp activities for partial shifts on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. Duties may include: providing breaks for Cabin Buddies, assisting with setting up / cleaning up after activities, and helping to ensure the flow of the weekend.
A flexible and proactive attitude is a must for these roles. Please be ready to jump in help where needed.
The beginning and the end of camp are crucial for campers and families. These volunteers work on Friday and/or Sunday for 2-3 hours to greet campers and families, assist with registration, help unload/load supplies, and set-up for the weekend.
Our welcoming and closing time helps the camp experience to flow and promotes a better experience for everyone. Your willingness to be present, welcoming, and proactive can make all the difference.
