Film: Being Mortal
We all die – but why don’t we die well? This Frontline documentary follows surgeon and award-winning author Atul Gawande, MD, author of the bestselling book by the same name. It investigates the practice of caring for the dying, and shows how doctors-himself included-are often remarkably untrained, ill-suited, and uncomfortable talking about chronic illness and death with their patients.
The film (54 minutes) is followed by a panel discussion with local physicians and healthcare professionals to discuss what it means to “die well,” as well as the importance of openly discussing these issues with our physicians and loved ones. Free admission.
