Death isn’t easy to talk about. But neither is life.
At the end of your life, what will you wish you had said?
Spoken/Unspoken: Stories of Living & Dying is a sound installation that features intimate stories from patients in our hospice care. We met with people nearing the end of their lives. We listened to their stories. We learned what matters most to them.
We now share their stories with you.
Spoken/Unspoken is open from December 1, 2017 – March 25, 2018 at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.
We worked with the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH), to record these stories. Hospice patients reflected on their lives and what they wished they could have said to friends and loved ones. Then, composer and sound artist Lanier Sammons wove their words into a symphony of stories. When you step into this immersive installation, you can listen to their stories and record your own.
This exhibition was made in partnership with Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History and Lanier Sammons.
