Roaring Camp Big Trees & Henry Cowell Redwood State Park

Remember your loved ones with this special memorial hike or bike through the beautiful Santa Cruz redwoods, and help raise needed funds for the many services that Hospice of Santa Cruz County provides to our community.

Based on the great success and positive feedback from last year’s attendees we are cranking up Hike-Bike to a new level of family fun at Roaring Camp Big Trees Railroad and Henry Cowell Redwood State Park. Popular activities such as our “Tribute to a Loved One” tent and our Friends of Hospice “Oktoberfest” booth will all be a part of the day.

Registration of $25 per person (kids 12 and under are free) secures you the following fun:

  1. A hike or bike through the redwoods (trails for all ages and levels of hikers or bikers)
  2. A Roaring Camp BBQ lunch with all the trimmings
  3. Face painting, bounce houses, toe tapping live music, picnic games including; tug of war, sack races, water balloon toss, bingo, horseshoes, volleyball, gold panning and soft ball.
  4. Free Roaring Camp parking for the first 65 cars that park at Roaring Camp

Hike-Bike is a special and unique community event created to remember and honor loved ones. This special memorial event was created to bring community and families together in a fun and uplifting atmosphere while raising needed funds to support the many Hospice of Santa Cruz County programs that serve the entire community.

Families, friends, neighbors and co-workers are encouraged to form teams and name the team in honor of their loved ones.  Last year 20 teams creatively remembered, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, spouses and close friends.  Team names like Team Sunshine, Nana’s Team, Big Daddy’s Team and Cat’s Team, were some of the meaningful names that were written on Hike-Bike Tee shirts.  Many teams enjoyed creating themed attire such as sunflower hats, custom baseball caps and colorful shirt photos of their loved one. Get creative so your team stands out!

Hike-Bike can become a friend and or family reunion tradition without all the work of putting on a reunion.  We encourage you to bring family and friends of all ages and encourage you to invite folks from outside the area to experience this memorable event with you. Once you experience this joy filled event you will want to come back year after year, just asEsther Wilson states;

“We have 13 family members and four generations walking in the 2nd Annual Hike-Bike for Hospice this year!  We had so much fun last year and we are so excited about going to Roaring Camp this year.  It is a beautiful place to have our entire family get together to remember our loved one.  “We can’t wait!”
